PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — There is no truth to the rumor UK freshman guard Tyler Herro shot the lights out during an exhibition game at the Atlantis resort Thursday.
But the power in the resort’s ballroom where Kentucky’s game against San Lorenzo De Almagro did go out during a timeout late in the first half. The ballroom lights quickly came back on, but spotlights used to illuminate the court and the scoreboards remained out for several minutes as power remained out in the Atlantis complex, leading officials to send the game to halftime early.
Herro led UK with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the shortened first half. UK led 45-27 at the break.
The game was continued in the second half with no television broadcast before full power returned just less than five minutes into the second half.
